We're going to build a new home and wonder if anyone has info on builders in the DFW area that use solar panels, recycling of materials, etc.?

He is certainly quite the expert! I really enjoyed hearing his presentation at the Home and Organic Garden Show.

kabelanet,

Whoever you find to build your house, spend the extra money on good glass. It will save you a lot of money. Also if you can find a builder to do it install a ground source heat pump system. This will save you a lot of money over the life of a house.

Ferrier Custom Homes is an exceptional green home builder. Mr. Don Ferrier has built several homes with me and is a very fine individual.

He is the past president of SIPA, THe Structural Insulated Panel Association. His firm has been awarded several prestigious awards for energy efficiency. Ferrier Custom Homes was awarded the 2005 EVHA, Energy Value Housing Award, Gold level for a hot climate for a home built in 2004. He is well versed in SIP and ICF construction. Don, is a team player in that he doesn't bid projects simply for the purpose of providing a price for someone. His process is to work directly with you to evaluate your goals and objectives and determine what you can build within your budget. Don has also built many underground, earth sheltered passive solar homes.

Ferrier Custom Homes can build affordable homes as well as high end. Currently we are collaborating on Heather's Home. An affordable, highly energy efficient new home. You can read more about this interesting project at www.Heathershome.info
