I'm growing a vegetable garden for the first time. I have prepared the soil with organic fertilizers and hardwood mulches since Nov.2004. I've justed planted a peach tree and a fig tree as well as onions. Can you think of anything else I need to do to have a successful garden my first year. ( It's on a south exposure)

I would go heavy on the foliar spray (Garrett Juice or something like that) every week or so. Especially the first year.

You might want to add Lava Sand, Green Sand, and 4-6 inches of compost, and agricultural corn meal because it has been an extremely wet year.

Go buy Howard's Book on Organic Vegetable gardening in Texas. I use it religiously and it contains information on just about everything you'll need.
