I just bought 2 society garlic plants. Each one has a bloom starting. Should I cut the whole plant back after I put it in the ground? Is this garlic purely ornamental or can it be eaten, too?
Thanks. |

| society garlic is tough. i've moved them around my yard all through the year without cutting them back at all. they are not poisonous, but i don't know their kitchen usage value. |

| I may be totally wrong but I though society garlic was more ornamental than edible. But to answer your other question, you do not need to cut it back before planting. Are you planting it specifically to eat, or to look at? |
