i just wanted to share the birth of my two baby bluebirds on apr. 14th. what i think is odd, the house is only a few yards off of my patio, yet the parents liked the spot. i thought they were more people phobic. i diligently protect the nest almost as much as the mom & dad. i so want to see them succeed.
i also have a sparrow nest near the patio. i know they are invaders. i refused to let them near any of my nesting boxes until i saw that they were the last takers. i wanted wrens, but those brats refused to nest where i told them to.

I have a bluebird sitting on 6 eggs. Last year a pair raised two families. Please destroy the sparrows if you can bring yourself to do so. They are not native to the US but worse, they kill native nestlings and sometimes their parents. The Purple Martin Conservation Society has documented proof of this. If you let them stay you will not have a chance of getting another type of bird during the second nesting.
