Can Liquid Seaweed be used as a root stimulator for flowering plants? I plan to soke the plants in a 2 oz per gal of water mix before we put them into the ground. Will it hurt the plants root system or help them.

Liquid seaweed is an excellent root stimulator for all plants. Follow the instructions on the bottle if possible. Make sure entire root ball is wet before planting. If plant is root bound, break the roots loose or cut the circling roots. A Garrett Juice type formula also works well to soak plants in before planting - also great for watering after planting.

Yes seaweed is great for that task!

Actually any high potassium food source is great for root growth or stimulation.

You can use a diluted compost tea brew, plus dry molasses, or any other high potassium foods, to do the job also!

Define your method of soaking. Not too good for plants to stand in water too long.

My definition of soaking is: soak in your mixture until entire root ball is saturated. This could take a minute or maybe even a half hour depending on the soil type and size of ball. Soaking will not hurt plants unless they stay in this type of situation continuously or for too long a period of time. Soaking is also the way to water any plant. Let plants dry out between waterings.

I've found no better way to give a plant a great start in a new home than watering in with seaweed. I've been using it for years and have about a 1% plant loss ratio - much better than before I started using it over a decade ago! Seaweed stimulates new root growth, feeds the plant trace nutrients and helps it overcome transplant shock.

I know other folks soak the plant's root ball and I do that from time to time, especially if I get a slightly sick plant, but watering it in seems to work very well. The rate I use is 1 oz. to a gallon of water. Then I water the entire area around the plant with a trickling hose flow for 5-10 minutes. Works every time! Hope it works for you too.
