| My bermuda lawn in Flower Mound is compacted and hard, wet or dry, and has a thick layer of thatch. When I try to water, the water simply runs off. When you look at the lawn, you see more thatch than grass. What would you recommend? :( |

I would put a black soaker hose on it and leave it on trickle for 3 weeks before moving to another spot. After you have covered the entire yard, a second 3-week treatment with the soaker might be needed.
Bermuda likes to be mowed real low, under an inch, and it looks much better when mowed with a reel mower. If you're interested in changing to St Augustine, that looks good, too, but is cared for much differently. It needs to be mowed at the highest setting and can be mowed with a rotary mower just fine. |
