I followed Howard's suggestions in setting up a new flower garden. I got all my flowers in and things were going well until about 3 weeks afterwards and most of my flowers started to lose and not reproduce their blooms. All of the plants are really healthy looking. What did I or am I doing wrong? Any suggestions as to what else I might do? Thanks, JohnnieMc

Flowers need a good rich soil. Did you mix mature compost into your topsoil prior to planting?

Did you check your soil pH? Is it between 6-7?

A good liquid biostimulant is perfect for flowers. Are you regularly watering your plants with a diltued compost tea recipe? Are you using it as a foliar and soil drench application?

I like to add extra phosphorus and potassium to my flowers, by using various grain meal protein fertilizers, in either a compost tea form , or as a dry soil amendment. My favorites are cheap, plain corn meal products, or cheap, pelletized cattle/horse feeds made from mostly corn or soybean meals.

All grain proteins add nitrogen and phosphorus, and sometimes potassium.
All forms of molasses products add potassium and increase microbial activity in tea recipes for foliar and soil drench appilcations.
