As far as I can tell, @ 9% Protein, it ought to have a decent nitrogen content, and molasses is one of the main ingredients... Plus, it's only ~$5/50lb. bag. I just put some down on the lawn, and there's some whole grain corn in there as well. Has anyone (other than myself) tried using this as a lawn treatment? Can anybody think of any potential negatives?

I see people reporting their use of horse feed on other message forums. No problems. At first there is concern about the salt content, but nothing seems to really be a problem in actual use.

Any nitrogen that's in organic fertilizer is incidental to the nitrogen in the atmosphere. When you get a good healthy herd of microbes working for you, they will pull in atmospheric nitrogen which cannot be measured.
