I have a tropical hibiscus that is planted in full sun in a pot. It forms buds, but they drop off before they open into bloom. I have checked for bugs, but don't see anything. We have used molasses to fertilize. This is our first year at organic gardening, so I don't want to spray with insecticides. Any suggestions would be welcome.

How much do you water them? The two I have are heavy drinkers.

I've found molasses to be a great additive, but don't know if I'd use only that. Maybe try adding some organic fertilizer as well?

In my experience, hibiscus need copious amounts of water when grown in pots. I almost lost my Texas star hibiscus (a hardy variety) by not watering enough. It has been growing like a weed even with drier conditions now that it is planted out. I would water deeply daily if you keep any hibiscus in a pot.
