This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. I need to know in what direction to plant acorns that have already sprouted. Last fall I gathered a bunch of acorns from some live oak and, I think, maple trees. I then wrapped them in damp paper towels and put them in the back corner of the refrigerator and promptly forgot about them. Well, a few days ago I noticed them and saw that they had sprouted through the paper towels. I unraveled them from the paper towels in preparation to planting them in small pots, but I don't know which direction to plant them. Each acorn has sprouted from one end and I don't know if this is the root and I should plant that end down, or if it is the beginning of the trunk and I should plant that side up. Also, should I put the pots in a location that gets full sun all day. I'm thinking that might dry them up too fast. Or maybe just a location that gets morning and early afternoon sun. Thanks in advance for you help!

Roots always show up first for these trees. That should get you going the right direction.
