A possible observation with tomato production

I tried a new little trick with growing tomatoes this year that I think may have paid off, or perhaps it's just my imagination, or just a coincidence. Don't know for sure. Before planting tomatoes this year, I bought several cans of really cheap coffee at one of the local grocers (I'm talking $1.38 per can). Anyway, I threw in about a cup of coffee per plant added to the soil in the planting hole, well mixed in. I swear my tomato production is the best this year it has ever been. By this, I mean the plants have been loaded with fruit all season. I don't know if the coffee had anything to do with it, but something is working, and this is the only thing I did differently this year. I remember when I was a kid, my Mom always dumped the old coffee grounds at the base of the tomato plants. Maybe this was the reason why.??? Has anyone else here used coffee straight from the can as a soil additive? Did you notice any difference in fruit production?

I bet the coffee grounds add some acidity which tomatoes love. Wonder if tea bags work also. I always open my used teabags and dump on the blueberries and raspberries. But coffee might be even better for them. Maybe the unused coffee has even more nutrients thus more growing power?
