|
|
My son has moved to a new house in Forney, and evidently Round Up had been used to kill grass in an area he wants to cultivate as a flower bed. To detoxify the area, I thought he should probably use Zeolite or Norit, going from memory (always dangerous) about what Howard has said in the past. I was able to find Zeolite in The Dirt Doctor Library, but I cannot find any info about Norit except for some comments in this discussion board. I would like to know enough to determine which is the best product to use in this situation, and where I can find Norit. I believe Zeolite is going to be a lot easier to find.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks!

Kay-
Norit is hard to find, in fact I've never seen it at a retail store. I can't explain it fully but in my simple mind, norit works in the soil and zeolite works on top of the soil.
I think in your son's case, norit would buffer or balance the toxic material in the soil. An example of zeolite that comes to mind was a police officer in Carrollton who had 100% care and responsibility of his police dog. She was leaving spots all over the yard from her urine. I told him to spread zeolite quite heavy and to spray with a Garrett juice type mixture once every couple of weeks. It worked.
If you want to buy some norit, call Michael Bosco at Soils Alive, 972-272-9211. He may only do applications or you may be able to pick some up.

| You can also get zeolite at H-E-B. Look for the Hill Country Fare brand of Traditional kitty litter. 100% zeolite and dirt cheap. |

If you don't have HEB, Marshall Grain carries it. I think in about 50# bags.

| Good point. I used to think H-E-B was all over Texas, but I was in Plainview from March to July and I know they never heard of them. Is H-E-B in the DFW area? |

I think Central Market is HEB in DFW. Don't know if they carry the same products.

| I sent an email to HEB and they said Central Market stores do not carry the kitty litter, and that the HEB store which would be closest to Dallas is in Waxahachie, I believe (I accidentally deleted the note too soon). |
