Hello, fellow gardeners!! Looks like HH & I will be moving to Mena, AR sometime during the first week of April. Hate to leave FW, both for proximity to so many great organic sources & the plants I've worked with so long, but the prospect of moving to new gardening possibilites is exciting. I'll go from city area (about 1/8 acre) to approx 4.5 acres (that's my gardening area--HH has 6 acres to play w/) & could use any & all help from anyone near my new playground. Have heard that the local feed store is very open to ordering anything not in stock, so acquiring most soil amendments shouldn't be much of a problem (if need be, I've already spoken to a supplier who's willing to bulk ship to me). I'm going to try to take as many of my own plants as possible, but some will probably stay in this area, as my new garden area gets considerably cooler than FW. I'm planning to take mostly native or adapted plants (in FW area, anyway) w/ me, such as[b]Turk's cap, daylilies, irises, true lilies, chocolate plant, wisteria, asst herbs, perennial hibiscus, antique roses, crinum lily, sedum, ornamental salvias, lantana, MX petunia, peony, my beloved bay tree, ginkgo, Japanese maple, Mx flame vine & zebra grass.[b] If anyone has had any experience growing any or all of these in the SW AR area, I would very much appreciate your comments or suggestions. Y'all have always been so very helpfull in the past & I have learned so much from this site. Thanks in advance for any remarks.

You may want to try naconiche gardens on hiway 59 just north of Nacogdoches (www.naconichegardens.com) They specialize in native and heirloom plants and are %100 on the organic program. They also sell organic soil ammendments. The staff is very helpful with most of them being certified horticulturist students from the local college. I recently got on the "organic bandwagon" and they have helped me tremendously; I do not know of any other organic nurseries in the area. Lone Star Feed on West Main street in Nacogdoches is getting into some organic products also. Good luck!
