| The current drought is starting to take a toll on my trees. I have a few dozen that were planted within the past year, following Howards tips and practices. I have had more trouble keeping them alive and healthy during this fall season then last summer, what with 100 degree temperature in Sep and 90 degrees in Oct and Nov, and 80's in Dec with no rain. O.K., I'll stop crying, here's my question; besides watering, should I add any nutrients to the soil at this time of the year, to offset the drought, or merely water and keep the cedar mulch around the base? I put out CGM and dry molasses a few months ago, and had not planned on doing anything but watering when necessary the next few months, will gladly do so if it will increase my chances of keeping my young trees healthy (and alive). What say you, Moderator? |

| I don't know, but this 80's business this time of year is sick. The last couple of years since buying this house I've been debating what sort of tree(s) to plant in the front yard where there are none, but now I'm glad I didn't if we're headed towards another dust bowl.... :( |
