My housing community has decided that 2 Oak trees are part of the each home they sell including the ones they already sold. That’s great except that the front of my yard is only home is only 35 feet wide. They are proposing to replant the current Oak to make the trees equidistant apart. They would be about 20 to 25 feet apart, since they have to be so many feet from the property line. Is this a good idea have the two Oak trees this close to each other?

They survive and thrive that way in nature sometimes, so I can't imagine that they would in your front yard. You may eventually have to prune a few branches. Also, make sure they are not planted too deep.

True but wouldn't they fight for sunlight at some point in their lifetime? I've seen Oaks with a 50 ft canopys. What this going to look like 10 years from now? I might not have a choice anyway. Home builders can be stubborn at times.
