My Mom has a Texas Mountain Laurel in her yard. Two years ago it bloomed for the first time and had beautiful, vibrant purple blooms. Last year the blooms were lavender. This year they are a dirty, pale white color. Does the tree need some sort of amendment to return to purple blossoms? Why have the blossoms faded over the past couple of years? I haven't found any reference to this issue any place I've looked.

does the bush look healthy otherwise? It may be because of the extreme drought. I would just make sure it's happy and healthy and adequately watered and it should be ok.

Other than the off color blooms the tree is quite healthy. It is watered once a week with an irrigation system.

Just make sure that the soil is allowed to almost dry before it's watered again.
