|
|
I have Howard's tree book but still cannot positively ID the various oak and maple trees that are coming up in the beds of my new house. They don't appear to be the variety that are right aorund my house. I would love to ID them then tranplant them.
Looking for a good website that has lot of leaf images to aid in the process. thanks. |

| Unfortunately it did not have the leaf I was looking to ID. I did determine it is from the red oak family though. |

| If you can send some digital pictures, I'll help ID the trees. BRIT (Botanical Research Institute of Texas) in Fort Worth could also ID them for you. |

Thanks Howard. I hope you can help.
The one on the far right is a Shumard Red oak I believe. The one in the middle has me stumped becase the nodes (?) are fatter especially at the tip.

They are all Shumard red oaks. If you look closely, all or most shumard red oaks leaves are slightly different from each other.Young shumard's leaves are different than adults. But they all have the basics look.
Same goes with southern red oaks of East Texas. Bur oaks does it also I noticed. Just like fingerprints and snowflakes. |
