I have a new vegetable bed and besides the normal ammendments I want 6 inches of compost. The bed is 230 sq. feet. I believe the compost bags are sold in 1 cubic foot size (at my nursery). So what is my calcualtion to determine how many bags of compost I would need?
I was never good at math... |

| 6 inches of compost sounds like alot. But you need 115 bags. |

We need to raise the bed about 6-8 inches from where it is now. The soil is sandy and almost "dusty" feeling. This is what I did in my previous veggie beds with great success. What do you recommend to raise the soil level if not with compost?
BTW - excellent link to the calculation page. Thanks!! |

| I didn't know what you were trying to do. Compost will work fine. |
