Wow, in over a week, not one response to the mite question I posted, no info in either the bug book or the organic gardening book, no other info on the website, or even other websites, that I could find.
You guys were my last resort. |

Well, I'm sure no expert but could you have little gnats? Do they fly? Have you tried an orange oil based cleaner on the surfaces where you've seen them?
Maybe that will help...

You might try the garlic/pepper tea also.
Just a suggestion. |

I should have said what I've already tried, sorry about that.
They aren't gnats, they are tiny mites, they look like the red mites in the bug book, but are gray, and there is no red when they are killed.
I've tried vinegar, and orange oil based cleaner, and also my own concoction of orange oil (for the plants) and water, a stronger mix. It is indoors, so I didn't think of garlic/pepper tea.. I don't want to put that on the desk as it might irritate our arms.
We do have a lot of birds around here, which I love, and so I suspect they are bird mites.
I don't know what that sulfer.. I've forgotten already, I'll have to read the post again.. anyway, where would I buy that at? I'm ready to try anything!
Thanks for helping me, and I apologize for sounding frustrated earlier,

We have used sulphur for years on our ankles, sox, shoes, to keep off chiggers when we're outside. (Don't need it usually until Memorial Day but 101 bites have shown me to use it 2 weeks b/4!!) Would not have occured to me to use it inside, but it's cheap & you can get a small bag at most garden stores. Can use it around your patio if you have chiggers! I think it kills some beneficials too, so use it sparingly.

Thanks, Patty, and thanks again everyone else.
I'm going to get some sulfur powder on Monday and try that, and I'll let everyone know the results.
Thanks again,
