Rose Help Please

Last Tuesday we received a couple of 1 gal. Bushes from a grower in Tyler @ a mother's day gift for my bride. & I got them planted that evening. I got her the Bon Silene because it was recommended as a good container plant and it is either an EARTH KIND rose or will soon be anounced as an EARTH KIND rose.
Planted wet to wet using compost tea, made my own coccoction of rose potting soil, using compost from my own compost heap, a little bit of store bought top soil, expanded shale, lava sand, green sand, a lot of coconut shell compost and a very small amount of 18 month old mulch from tree limbs that were ground up from my own yard. They are both in full sun all day long , with plenty of air circulation about 5 feet from the house.
yesterday one plant completely green and today this plant has a half dozen yellow leaves. The problem plant, I think, was completely green when I got it
this morning 70% of the leaves are yellow. This is my first and maybe my last shot with roses.
A couple of possibilities
Compost tea too rich
Too much moisture / over watering
Maybe not enough "dirt/soil" in media
any idea appreciated. Ive taken picturers this morning if there is any to attach them to this form

I'm surprised no one seems to be posting replies on this forum lately - is there a system problem? I'm not an expert, but I think your rose just experienced transplant shock, although you may want to make sure there are no 'voids' or pockets around the roots where they may be exposed to air. I know that my roses generally do better the less I water them - I only give them about 1-2 gallons each (depending on size) once a week, although I don't have any in containers. I hope your bush didn't die!

I wonder if the drought is keeping everyone away (bummed about gardening right now)? I haven't visited the site much lately either.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear your roses are doing OK now.

Our roses are doing pretty well, but we have been giving more supplemental watering in this heat and drought. All the ammendments you used sound good. When you water the roses, does the water drain pretty fast? The faster it drains, the more often you probably have to water. Awhile back I was mixing some potting soil, and the lava sand I was using was very fine. I didn't realize until I tried to use the mix that it was draining too slow. It appeared that I was using too much of the fine lava sand, which turned into mud. Then when it finally dried out it was rock hard.

Also, be sure you're only watering at the ground level and not spraying the leaves.
