|
|
I have a small container garden in which I have tomatoes and peppers planted. As my tomatoes mature on the vine I am finding large chuncks have been eaten out of them over night. The entire tomatoe is not eaten but fully 1/2 of several large tomatoes are eaten. I moved the pots from the ground and placed them on a table. This did not help. I bought some netting, thinking maybe birds are eating my vegetables however, as I do not have any tomatoes left , my peppers have been eaten. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be eating my vegetables and what
I can do about it? |

Have you seen ANY evidence, like little balls of poop? (sorry, but I could have said worse) Usually its a big, fat (by now), green worm. Have you sprayed w/Garrett Juice?

| Could also be rats or other night critters. They would eat at night, get through netting & take large chunks. Do you see any teeth marks? |

| TWO WORDS: Raccoons / Possums : Only solution- Organic Buckshot (let me know if you find any) All kidding aside, I have been fighting them for years and the only practical thing I have found is to place live traps with fruit/meat scraps near garden. What you do with what you catch is up to you(possible organic meat source?). If you only want to know what is causing the damage, borrow a motion activated camara from a hunter and set it out a few nights. Most people are surprised at what is crawling around their home at night-even city folks. |
