I have a Ginko that is about five years old. It has not grown even one millimeter in height or diameter since it was planted. It has no new stems. The root flare is clearly visible. It is in full sun for most of the day, and it's in red clay. Nearby trees and shrubs are doing well. The sick tree treatment did not help.
It is over an old fire pit that was used for roasting meats some twenty years ago.
Any suggestions?

That's just.... weird.

So it goes the normal cycle of dropping leaves, growing new ones, etc but no new wood growth at ALL?

In the sick tree treatment, did you do the part where you aererate the ground in its root zone well?

Just a thought- since it's inexpensive and can pass on all sorts of good energy, minerals and overall good ju-ju, try getting a few sacks of lava sand and spread it manually in about twice the root zone of the tree before you fertilize again, then fertilize on top of that and see what happens in the spring.

Sorry it took so long, but I do appreciate your reply.
I've been organic since '85, and I've tried everything from neglect to every concoction on the market. I now use only three or four amendments, and lava sand is a mainstay.
The ginko is now stressed more than ever, and I've decided to give up both on that tree and the immediate planting area. There's a gremlin living there, and it wants nothing but grass.

Thanks.
