Change the water more often! A TBS. of 5% apple cider vinegar per gal of water will help. Will the bamboo live very long with just water?

we do change the water often, but it comes back in 2 days. this is only recent, we have had this plant for three years and this is the only time the water has begun to stink. We have washed the vase, but know we will try the vinegar. Thanks for the tip! I am assuming bamboo will live long in just water, we don't do much extra than add fresh water. We acquired this plant from a friend about 3 years ago and its still going strong. :)

All plants require some type of nutrients eventually. Seems like the bamboo has run out of its' stored supply after 3 years & is starting to rot. You might want to search the Internet or ck with a garden shop for helpful info.
