clean soil in barn

We have been using our barn to house show pigs on one end and periodically the other end houses, sick cattle, weaning heifers, nurse cows and calves, heifers calving, etc. What can I use to "clean" the soil of any bacteria?, pathogens that may be present? I did put down DE before spreading sand for the new batch of show pigs. Most show people advise to spray with clorox or some other smelly toxin. I just won't do that.

I would use full strength compost tea (first and foremost) and 1 pound per 100 square feet of corn meal (a close second). Milk at 3 ounces per gallon per 1,000 square feet would be good, too.

I would spread lime on area to be disinfected and
then scrape out and put on pastures to build soil. Let
the area dry before putting anything back in area. Dry
kills pathogens. Chloride in any form is toxic.

Thanks for the information. The consensus in the show world is to put down lime and then sand or bedding material.
