I'll try to explain.
Dallis grass has sort of a 'flat' area in the middle & 'stems' seem to sprout up from the sides of this roundish middle area.
When we first moved to TX, I thought St. Augustine WAS crabgrass! But crab grass is a little darker or a different shade of green & more 'erratic', that is, the blades are not uniform like St Aug. & seem to have blades coming off the stems.
There is a web site on grasses, of course I cannot remember it, maybe 'Texas Native Grass'? Do a search on this forum.

| Dalis has the tall stems with the seeds at the end. Crab is low to the ground. |
