Is there a poisonous variety of wild onions? If so, how does one know the difference between poisonous and edible?
I have thousands of them, and I have always either mown over them or pulled them and tossed them. They look like shallots and smell like shallots. |

| If they smell like garlic or onions, they are edible but be careful. A similar looking plant called crow poison is toxic. There's a pretty good explanation of the difference in Plants for Texas book. |

| Many thanks. They do smell like onions. I don't have Plants for Texas. I guess I should get it before I try one. I could not find anything on the internet that gave me any confidence. |

Pirate-
Go to Google and just above the line you type into you will see the word image. Click on image and then type in crow poison, you will see dozens of pictures.
