I am desperate and I need help! We have these tiny gnat looking bugs in our kitchen. They seem to congretate around the sink. When we went away for the weekend I hung a fly-strip but it didn't catch a single one. I read online that they are "sewer flies" and can breed in cloggy pipes. So I took all the pipes under my kitchen sink apart and cleaned them out (they really weren't THAT dirty) and then flushed the pipes with vinegar and baking soda. They seemed to disappear for awhile, but now they're back :-( We don't leave dirty dishes sitting around or food or anything like that (read, we are not dirty people, lol), and they are NOT fruit flies. They look like gnats. Does anyone have any solutions? I am tired of washing things 5 times because they make me feel so ewwwwwwwww. I do not have any indoor plants....and as many here in Texas know, we have had waaaay more rain than usual...but these buggers are in the house...:(....and I don't have any open windows/doors either.

best way I have found to get rid of gnats is to vacumm them up. First suck some DE into the vacumm cleaner bag, then vacumm the gnats. You will have to do it repeatedly over a few days or up to a week but then the problem should be over assuming you also remove anything that is attracting them. Keep the vacumm in the garage, or outside (protected) in between cleanings to make sure any gnats don't excape, in case the DE doesn't get them. Toss the bag when you think the problem is done with.

What's attracting them, I don't know. You may never figure it out.

I am also having a bad time with gnats. I have set up bottle traps for them with apple cider vingar as bait. It catches a lot of them but they keep coming. I also empty all garbage, clean dishes, etc.

My husband got these zapper wands and they work somewhat but they just seem to stun them.

If anyone know of a solution I would love to hear it too.
