| I have a very extensive infestation of fire ants at Cedar Creek Lake, probably due to the water rising and pushing them from the dry lakebed and onto our lot. I've used Come and Get It with some success, but I'm interested in trying Abamectin baits. Does anyone have a source for products in the Dallas or Cedar Creek areas? No one I've called has heard of it, and I've been looking for months. I'm a little concerned about its toxicity, especially to fish, and wondering if it's a reasonable organic choice around children. |

Abamectin (spelling ?) has some (very mild) toxicity. Spinosad products are what you might need. When you call your garden centers, ask for ant control products & then ask them to read the ingredients to you. A lot of the employees at stores don't have a clue.

Quit using the stuff that doesn't work & possibly poisons your yard, plants, you, etc. Stick with organically approved products! |
