I have 3 older fruit trees I have "inherited" at my fathers home.
They are full of fruit and the limbs are hanging almost to the ground.
Should I prune or cut back the limbs? |

| Next year, thin the fruit earlier in the year. You can still thin the fruit which is better than pruning the tree. If your limbs are cracked, go ahead & prune. Something I've seen to prop up an overloaded tree is to buy some 1"x2"x8' pieces of wood' cut a V-notch at one end & use it to prop up drooping limb. These props used to be used on clothes lines also. |
