I have what I believe to be a spanworm and a multitude of eggs on a rose plant. I do not know if it is beneficial or detrimental. Anyone help?
Thanks,

Well, by doing a simple internet search I found that spanworms will eat the leaves of whatever host plant it's on. I would say that it probably not the thing you want on your roses. Have you seen the worm itself and compared it to photos on the internet..like this one?

Also note that it says it lays single eggs, not a multitude. The eggs could belong to something else.
Make sure the eggs don't look like this, cause that's from the ladybugs.

You mean if the eggs look like the ones in the above link, leave them alone. Right?
Just a thought, if you do not know what they are, leave them alone and watch. We can learn a lot by observation. |
