| I've got a Shumard Red Oak that has ants eating under the bark of the trunk and it's starting to look pretty bad. I've done the sick tree treatment and added beneficial nematodes to the soil. Is it OK to spray the trunk and root area with EcoPCO AR-X multi-purpose insecticide or would garlic pepper tea be better? The tree is about 17 feet high with about a 3" gauge. I planted it almost 2 years ago. |

I can't help you a whole lot, but ants do not eat live trees. Some varieties climb trees to eat other stuff & live in dead wood where they make cavities (their living space). The ones that make cavities are usually at ground level. You say that you did the sick tree treatment; did you do the root flare exposure; did you plant the tree properly?

Sorry, I guess I should have been more specific with my question. Is it OK to spray the trunk and root area with EcoPCO AR-X multi-purpose insecticide or garlic pepper tea?
Thanks |

| I use orange oil solution on ants around trees. I guess it works alright... |
