no till gardening

This is probably so basic it's real dumb of me to ask but... I've been trying to find info on no till gardening EVERYWHERE .Anyone know of a good book or web site? I assume it's just a matter of layering on amendments every year. I've also been studying into crop rotation for purposes of pest management, one crop leaving in the soil what another needs to do well etc etc. Heard someone say that's not necessary if you amend the ground every year (which we should be doing anyway). Any ideas on that?

I've heard people talk of 'Ruth Stout' who must have written many books. articles on 'lasagne gardening'. I haven't heard anything that disagrees w/natural way.

I think it depends on the soil you have to start with. I want to do the layering but felt that hard-as-a-rock black clay needed to have anendments 'turned in' first. If you have YEARS to wait for the layers to break down, I guess its a good way to start.

I planted hairy vetch in my garden space last fall, then turned it in w/lava sand, molasses, compost, humates, green sand, cornmeal.
