| My neighbor just showed me her sweetgum in the parkway that was hit by a car a couple of nights ago. The tree trunk is about 20 inches in diameter at the widest point. The impact left a swath of bark missing from one side of the tree about 5 feet tall by 15" wide. Some of the wood is scraped (under where the bark used to be.) I gave her Howard's recipes for tree trunk goop and for the sick tree treatment. I know Howard doesn't recommend wrapping trees, but with a wound the size of this one, I wonder if it would be advised? Or is there anything else that can be done? |

| I'd say just have her make plenty of the tree trunk goop, apply every time it's washed off for a good while, and make sure she does a monthly or every other weekend foliar feed of the tree with a touch of extra molasses in the spray. |
