We've been organic for oh..6 or 8 years now and have been tickled to watch "new" critters showing up over the years. This year--this month there are 3 caterpillars I've never seen before. I've googled, searched this website and have a few other places to try. The websites google led me to all seem to have pretty much the same ones, usually moths, and none fit any of the three. I've taken pictures and will work on getting them posted, in the meantime maybe someone will recognize the descriptions?? #1 approx 3" long, more flat than round, light gray with dark gray markings, very pretty, would blend in with tree bark,10-12 segments, one end has 2 projections curved slightly toward the ground. It was sitting on the sidewalk so I don't know what it eats or which end is which
...shoulda watched where it went. #2 approx two to two and a half inches, round, gray body with yellow or cream colored hair, black head, moved very quickly, again not on any plant. #3 approx 1" long, sitting above my head on a crape myrtle so I couldn't get a good look at the head, fuzzy cream colored. I'll keep looking (anyone know a good source??) elsewhere too. Thanks for the help. |
