I look forward to this every year. There's nothing sweeter than to hear a baby mockingbird practicing its repertoire of songs. They sing softly, to themselves instead of the serenade that their parents give the entire neighborhood. They seem slef-conscious in a way with their unsure voice cracking like a pre-teen. I usually hear them trying to master uncomplicated 3-note songs but even those are over their heads initially.
I hope you get to experience this if you haven't already. |

| Male Mockingbirds continue to learn different songs throughout their life and may eventually build up a repertoire of 200 songs or more. Lady mockers seem to prefer the guys that know the most songs. |
