We love to walk on the campus at Richland College.
We noticed that they are placing a plaque identifying many trees.
But they are then covering the area with a rose colored gravel and mounding up around the root flare.
Isn't this detrimental to the trees? What will likely happen to the trees?
I noticed this being done with the last year.
How long will it to take to harm the tree.
What can be done?

I would send the college an email, maybe even forwarding the page from here about trees & root flares.
