| Any ideas on how to control ground pearls? I bought an ice plant at a local nursery which I placed in a hanging basket. I just saw today that the plant is now completely eaten up and has little pearls all around the roots and in the soil. I'd never seen anything like this and didn't have a clue what the pearl-like things were so I looked it up on the internet and was able to at least identify them. However, there's not much out there about controlling them or what to do about them. I did however read that there are no insecticides specifically recommended to kill them. I'm hoping there is an safe and organic way to get rid of them. |

| From what it says, it is a scale insect which can be controlled with Neem oil. Is the plant dead or worth saving at this point? Get rid of the dirt that you planted it in and start fresh. Mix a lot of DE in with the new soil. I would spray the roots with Neem. |
