At what height do you mow your lawn?
It would be great if you would make an additional reply with the type grass you have as well. If you do, it would be helpful to state how high you mow. |

I have Saint Augustine and Bermuda grass mix with patches of horseherb, clover, oxalis, and other ground covers.
I also have an area of vinca and purple wintercreper that I mow paths through to get to the water faucet. I mow a path about once a month. (The path placement varies).
I mow my yard every 5 or 6 days when it is dry enough to do so!
Under the shade of most my trees I have very coarse rough cut cedar. Big chunks of mulch allow water to penetrate and it is good for air circulation.
How about you? |

| I have mostly St. Augustine with some small patches of Bermuda in the backyard. The lawn is relatively weed-free but we've only been in the house 1.5 years and I'm not sure what the previous owner put on the lawn. I am in the process of removing a large planting bed under the pecan tree so I can expose the root flare and them put down mulch. |

| I have St. Augustine grass. I mow my grass every 3 - 5 days at a height of 4 inches. With all the rain we have been having I really need to mow! Since going orgainc this year, my grass is dark green and very thick with small areas that I am still tinkering with! |

G Pants,
Perhaps/Maybe:
You can go longer between mowings. I have found that the grass responds quickly after mowing [3 to 4 days], then slows down, with more moderate growth for the next week or so.
OR, Perhaps/Maybe:
The grass is responding to too frequent or too much water[ing].
I've seen both.
Take care.

I guess I'm the lone low-cutter responding here':D', but I have new Zoysia sod thats a little over a month old. I mowed yesterday at about 1.75" and will eventually get it down to a thick, dense, weed-free 1".
I've been completely organic since installation and I know that within a few months my yard will stand out because of all the SBM, CGM, and ACT being applied now!'8)'
I've learned quite a bit from Tricky Grama and others on this site. It's well appreciated. |

Yes, I heard zoysia should be mowed between 1" - 2.5".
Just remember, the shorter the grass, the shorter the roots. Shorter roots do not do well in drought situations, but we haven't had such situations here in Texas lately!
Note: Zoysia is pretty to look at, but does not handle foot traffic well. |
