We have a unique yard on a creek but have the usual suburbia plants: bradford pears, crape myrtles, ivy, etc.

I'm interested in changing out what I can (leaving the trees), to a more native landscape.

Question: with the uniqueness of the yard, the shaded areas mixed with areas of full sun, etc., should I go buy a book and try and do it myself or go with a company (nativedave.com) for help?

Any thoughts?

Thanks...

Who knows what you want? Depends on the time and energy you have.

Do some research first. Look at what natives or other plants do best in your area. Do you have a deer problem? type of soil. Get an Idea of what you want and match it to what would work in your yard. Visit other landscaped areas in your vacinity to help with ideas. Then decide what you want. companies like native dave can also help but you really need to have an idea of what YOU want before you ask for outside help.
