It is definitely a red oak and is evergreen/semi evergreen. As you can see the date on it, there were plenty of trees that have shed there leaves. The red oak I've seen had brown reddish leaves. It looks like it could be Canby Oak. Notice the small tree to the right with green leaves? That's Mexican white oak. It is located near Marbles Fall. Since I'm going back there over Christmas holiday, I'm going to take up close pictures of that red oak and collect acorns to grow them. |

I don't have any upclose pictures on the leaves but I will take some more pictures over Christmas Holiday when we go visit my wife's parents in Marble Falls (an hour northwest of Austin). The Canby oak is just right down the street from their house. This picture was taken two years ago in December when we were there for Christmas.
I also saw Mexican Blue oak (Quercus oblongifolia) there as well. Here are the pictures...
