I'm a landscaper with a new customer who has several small Indian Hawthornes which have never bloomed. They're in a good sunny location, apear healthy, the soil "looks and smells" fairly rich, has been mulched in the past. Customer said the plants have been in the ground for about three years, came from box store, have just never bloomed. I thought there might be a gender problem, as can be the case with other plants, but don't think this applies here. My other guess is that soil is not right. Have been told to apply potash, but am thinking more along lines of sick tree treatment. Any ideas out there??? Thanks! Gary

Any idea if they've been fertilized lately?

In my experience Hawthorne's are not reliable bloomers every year until they are very well established and even then they seem to take breaks every few years. I planted some at my parent's house in 1995 and they did not really bloom until a few years ago.
