Agressive behavior in some backyard doves

We have a particularly aggressive dove that hangs out on the feeder in our backyard. He literally whacks the other birds off the feeder with its wing and today (of course not sure that its the same one as before) my husband saw the dove grab a sparrow with its beak and pick him up, to get him off the feeder. It worked because they all flew away when that occurred.

Just curious if this was normal behavior for white-winged doves?

I have never heard of this behavior but it is pretty interesting. I found this comment in the Bent Life History:

Combats among males were frequent, but these were bloodless battles, as the birds flapped at one another uttering guttural notes, or when near at hand struck quickly with one wing. Often one male was at much trouble to drive all others from some trees, and once I observed one hustle away a pair of Mourning Doves that chanced to intrude upon his domain.
