I'm looking for some suggestions on some ornamental shrubs to attract birds and butterflies. I am wanting something that will get between 10 to 20' tall. I have heavy black loam soil and these will be planted in a pasture with no irrigation and FULL sun so they will need to be hardy. I also don't want anything that is going to be highly invasive I can handle moderately invasive.

What about chinese fringe flower? Photina is hardy-not the red tip-but guess it wouldn't attract butterflies.

I know that Buddlias (butterfly bush) can reach over 6ft tall, but I don't know their maximum height. I can't think of anything that gets that tall and attract butterflies/hummingbirds. Check out buddlias though.

Sorry, the correct spelling is Buddleia.
