| I had planned to use my compost in my vegatable garden this year, but after tuning it I discoverd thousands of bugs that looked like roly polys, but were lighter in color and a little flatter. Also it had several slugs in it. i was afraid they would eat the roots of my veggies so I didn't use it. Should I put something in my compost to kill these? |

When compost is fully "done", all large beneficial soil creatures like roly poly's, maggots, flies, etc. will move on. These guys are only in decomposing organic matter in the early stages of composting.
Earthworms are the exception. They will stay in the mature compost and the soil.
Happy Gardening! |
