I was at North Haven Gardens recently and noticed that they are selling pine straw mulch. Does anyone have opinions or experience on using this for mulching a vegetable garden?

Use it, it is an excellent mulch!

The trick is always put composted organic material under the mulch, and check your soil pH to make sure it is betwen 6.0 and 7.0. That way the acidic mulch will have no effect on your soil pH.

The aerobic soil microbes and humates from the compost will keep your soil pH balanced over time.

Happy Gardening!

My only objection is that it looks a little strange if you don't have any pine trees.

I don't have any pine trees around my yard but I guess it should go well with the mysterious pile of pine cones behind the shed.
