Hello - I live on the Texas side of Lake Texoma. Last fall I created 3 "tree beds" (see attached) and randomly planted a bunch of acorns from various type Oaks and Wallnut trees in the area. The beds are open on the bottom. I now have about 300 seedlings 1-3 inches high. How long can I leave them in the beds and still get the roots out before I transplant them. My concern is the roots will get too deep and I will kill the trees trying to get them out.

Should I put them in pots or plant them in the ground right away when I transplant.

Sorry, I said attached but cannot figure out how to attach the picture. If someone could tell me how, I will attach then.

Thanks for any help or comments on what I am doing.[/img][img][/img]

Putting little transplants in the ground as soon as possible is the best thing to do. In containers the roots hit the wall and start circling quickly.
