This is hot off the press. Folks in Florida (including a county agricultural extension agent speaking off the record) are using a light dusting of baking soda on crabgrass in their St Augustine turf to kill the crabgrass. Apparently it takes a week and the crabgrass turns black and dies leaving the St Aug unharmed. If I had crabgrass, I'd try it.

| This is great! Also try it on dallisgrass and nutgrass. Then do the same thing with potassium bicarbonate which would be better for the soil in most areas. |

I'm going to keep the sticky on this until I return next Friday. Then I'll release it and let the message drift down the list. I just thought it was pretty important news and very timely for y'all.
I like Howard's suggestion. Try baking soda and potassium bicarbonate on all your weeds and see what happens. I would try a little at a time or if you have solid weed patches, try it there first. |
