| What exactly is urinated rainwater? Is is what I think? You drink rain and pee on the compost pile? |

| This cracks me up! Some of our posters put urine in their compost or other stuff (compost tea, etc.). Seems sort of gross, huh? It does work & does good though. Don't let your neighbors see you doing this. From what I've seen on this board' it's guys that do this. You don't need to drink the rainwater, just do your thing in it! Ck CAPTAIN COMPOSTAL's posts, he'll tell you all about it! |

The wife thinks I'm nuts but I told her that I probably save about 20-40 gallons of water a week by using the compost pile rather than the toilet. I actually made an effort to increase my water intake too! She just rolls her eyes..

Urine (urea) is good stuff! It's one of the safest, sterile, free sources of nitrogen you can use for composting or tea brewing.
If you think this is crazy, I read the other day from another one of my favorite organic farming websites, that there are several fanatic female organic gardeners out there that make their own natural blood meal tea brews from their personal used sanitary napkins.... (LOL)
Organic matter comes in lots of various sources and forms! (LOL)
Happy Gardening everybody! |

Good info Cap'n - I have now officially found my personal 'what's too gross to compost' question.
...and this from a guy who names his soldier fly maggots.
BRB - I filled half a dozen buckets with rain water over the weekend, gotta go add your special ingredient. |
