MONARDA

MONARDA

Nothing browses any of the monardas – not even deer. The Monarda genus comprises a number of fragrant herbs with especially beautiful flowers. Most are native plants, such as Monarda fistulosa, wild bergamot; Monarda punctata, spotted bee balm; and Monarda citriodora, lemon mint. Monarda didyma is the red flowering variety. Seeds are increasingly available in mail order catalogs, and small plants are being seen more often in retail nurseries.
