PLUMERIA
(Plumeria spp.)

"Frangipani", "Egg Flower", "Crow Flower", "Dead Man's Fingers" Gorgeous tropical with big thick stems, long pointed leaves and flowers all summer. Must be protected in winter. Good in pots. Sun or part shade. This is the flower used to make Hawaiian leis, native to Southern Mexico into South America and parts of Caribbean, fragrant, many colors, tropical, loves heat and humidity, loves blazing sun, 2-3 years from seed to flower, easy to root from cuttings in perlite or sand kept slightly on the dry side with all mature leaves removed, air dry so no latex is bleeding (2 or 3 days to dry out in shade), prefer organic compost enriched soil that drains well. Houston is home to the national Plumera society.
